Purchasing Manager

Description:

 

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager for a large distribution company based in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.

This role is with an award winning company with an excellent reputation.

They are offering the right candidate €70k+ depending on experience. Our client is looking for candidates that can lead a team and the purchasing function.

 

Duties:

 

  • Collaborate with directors and management team to align all procurement activities with the goals of the business
  • Lead the procurement team and manage their activities
  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Seek exclusive arrangements where possible and work closely with key stakeholders to achieve agreed targets
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand by continual analysis of customer buying patterns
  • Anticipate delays and be able to work promptly when stock shortage issues appear
  • Work closely with the director of sales to achieve cost benefits and better relationships with all suppliers
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify shifting strengths/weaknesses in buyer-supplier relationships
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Work closely with our compliance team and our website/marketing team on the product range
  • Work with our IT support team to enhance existing reports and create new reports as necessary to assist and manage the procurement team
  • Onboarding of new employees in the procurement process and use of the system
  • Continually assess, manage and mitigate risks

 

Requirements:

 

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar senior position
  • A degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration would be beneficial
  • Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated supervisory and management experience
  • Interested in market dynamics along with commercial awareness
  • Ability to gather and analyse data
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
  • Solid decision making skills with sound judgement
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Experience of using an ERP system or a similar vendor management system for procurement
  • Experience with Netsuite would be an advantage
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all items meet the required quality standards and compliance requirements
  • Continuously improving purchasing systems and processes and promote the use of technology to automate manual steps in the procurement process wherever possible
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently
