Purchasing ManagerDescription:
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager for a large distribution company based in Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
This role is with an award winning company with an excellent reputation.
They are offering the right candidate €70k+ depending on experience. Our client is looking for candidates that can lead a team and the purchasing function.
Duties:
- Collaborate with directors and management team to align all procurement activities with the goals of the business
- Lead the procurement team and manage their activities
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Seek exclusive arrangements where possible and work closely with key stakeholders to achieve agreed targets
- Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand by continual analysis of customer buying patterns
- Anticipate delays and be able to work promptly when stock shortage issues appear
- Work closely with the director of sales to achieve cost benefits and better relationships with all suppliers
- Forecast price and market trends to identify shifting strengths/weaknesses in buyer-supplier relationships
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Work closely with our compliance team and our website/marketing team on the product range
- Work with our IT support team to enhance existing reports and create new reports as necessary to assist and manage the procurement team
- Onboarding of new employees in the procurement process and use of the system
- Continually assess, manage and mitigate risks
Requirements:
- A minimum 5 years’ experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar senior position
- A degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration would be beneficial
- Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated supervisory and management experience
- Interested in market dynamics along with commercial awareness
- Ability to gather and analyse data
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Solid decision making skills with sound judgement
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Experience of using an ERP system or a similar vendor management system for procurement
- Experience with Netsuite would be an advantage
- Attention to detail to ensure that all items meet the required quality standards and compliance requirements
- Continuously improving purchasing systems and processes and promote the use of technology to automate manual steps in the procurement process wherever possible
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently
